Netnod joins the World IPv6 Launch
Netnod is proud to have been operating an IPv6 infrastructure for a number of years, and strongly welcomes the World IPv6 Launch! "With the first region already having run out of IPv4 addresses – the technology that today’s Internet is built on – there should no longer be a question about the need to deploy IPv6," says Netnod CEO Kurt Erik Lindqvist. "By being early adopters of IPv6 and having it already deployed, we are ready to handle an increase in the number of customers of our services in the coming years, and we are ready to serve the next wave of users coming on-line. Having run out of today’s building blocks, i.e IPv4 addresses, the next users of the Internet will have to use IPv6" Lindqvist added.
World IPv6 Launch
On June 6, 2012, major Internet service providers (ISPs), home networking equipment manufacturers, and web companies around the world are coming together to permanently enable IPv6 for their products and services. Organized by the Internet Society, and building on the successful one-day World IPv6 Day event held on 8 June 2011, World IPv6 Launch represents a major milestone in the global deployment of IPv6.
Netnod was part of promoting last year’s World IPv6 Day among the operators and users of the Internet, and we have again helped push for the World IPv6 Launch day.
