Netnod supports the OpenStand initiative
Stockholm 29 August 2012
On August 29, five leading global organisations jointly signed an agreement to affirm and adhere to a set of Principles in support of The Modern Paradigm for Standards; an open and collectively empowering model that will “help radically improve the way people around the world develop new technologies and innovate for humanity.”
Netnod, as the largest IXP in Scandinavia, and the operator of i.root-servers.org, has since its inception been a strong supporter of open standards. Netnod considers open processes for development of standards, free availability of standards, and reasonable licensing mechanisms to be essential for the continued innovation, operation, and sustainability of the Internet of today.
Netnod CEO Kurtis Lindqvist emphasised that “Netnod has a strong commitment to open processes, something we have demonstrated through our longstanding and active participation in the IETF. Therefore, we fully support the goals framed in the OpenStand initiative, and look forward to the continued engagement by the involved actors.”
