New DNSNODE sites improve DNS service for Cambodia and Peru
“The new sites in Peru and Cambodia bring improved DNS service,” said Miguel Alktun, Business Development, DNS. “This means improved local performance both for the DNS root name server operated by Netnod as well as for the DNS services provided to ccTLDs and to corporate domains.”
“The presence of Netnod's DNSNODE server in Lima is a milestone for the Internet in Peru and LATAM since it consolidates the local presence of critical DNS infrastructure in the region and translates into a faster and more reliable Internet,” said Salvador Bertenbreiter, CSO, Peru IX . “We also appreciate the ongoing support from LACNIC in our development of a neutral peering ecosystem in Peru and the deployment of more DNS root servers throughout the region.”
“This is an important step forward for Cambodia and has been a big investment on Netnod’s part,” said Mike Gaertner, co-founder of the Cambodia Network Exchange (CNX). “The costs are significant, but this new server will significantly improve security for the DNS system in Cambodia, so the investment is worthwhile.”
The new sites in Peru and Cambodia, which are already taking a noticeable traffic load over both IPv4 and IPv6, follow a series of deployments in the past year which includes new sites in:
- Buenos Aires, Argentina
- Calgary, Canada
- Cochabamba, Bolivia
- Fremont, CA, USA
- Guatemala city, Guatemala
- Manta, Ecuador
- Minneapolis, MN, USA
- Monterrey, Mexico
- Paramaribo, Suriname
Netnod’s DNSNODE service is used to provide I-root instances in more than 70 sites globally, and is also used by TLDs and enterprise customers to ensure rock-solid DNS for their domains.
