World IPv6 Day!
Netnod joins leading Internet organisations in World IPv6 day.
Today, on 8 June, 2011, major Internet organisations around the world will offer their content over IPv6 for a 24-hour “test flight”. The goal of World IPv6 Day is to spread the word of IPv6 and motivate organisations across the industry – Internet service providers, hardware makers, operating system vendors and web companies – to prepare for IPv6.
Netnod, a long-time proponent of IPv6, is of course joining in on World IPv6 day to help promote the widespread use of IPv6.
Nurani Nimpuno, Outreach and Communications manager at Netnod said: "We believe the worldwide deployment of IPv6 should be a priority for all Internet organisations around the globe today. IPv4 depletion is imminent, and IPv6 is simply the only solution for this. We see it as part of our strive to work for the Good of the Internet, to spread awareness and knowledge of IPv6."
Kurtis Lindqvist, CEO of Netnod added: "All Netnod services and operations have been IPv6 enabled for quite some time, including the Netnod Internet exchange points, i.root-servers.net, and the DNSNODE anycast and unicast services. World IPv6 Day provides a strong incentive for those organisations who are not quite there yet, to reach 100% IPv6 adoption within their organisation and to test end-to-end IPv6 connectivity. On World IPv6 Day, our message is: 'Netnod is ready for it. Are you?'"
