State of the Internet in Sweden 2020-03-17 16:00
After a week of recommendations from the Public Health Agency of Sweden to minimize exposure to others, and from the 16th of March, for Stockholmers to work from home, we have started to see a change in the use of the Internet in Sweden. The peak usage is slightly up, but what is more interesting is that it seems the total usage over 24h is up. This might be because of increased remote working, but it will take another week before we can see if this is a continued trend.
Yesterday on March 16 Netnod released a statement regarding the change of traffic pattern that one can see in the statistics presented on the Netnod web site.
General issues we are aware of during the last 24h:
Starting just after 10:00 today March 17 there was a power outage in a portion of the facility called KN7 in Stockholm. This impacted many ISPs and access providers in Sweden for about an hour. The outage had nothing to do with high load, although more people than normal detected the outage because more people depend on Internet access from home, and the outage was during a press conference with the Swedish Government.
