Netnod responds to Ministry of Justice consultation on the Swedish Government Secure Intranet

Netnod has responded to the consultation by the Ministry of Justice related to the Swedish Government Secure Intranet (SGSI). The proposal expressed in the consultation is to extend the parties that can use the SGSI service which is managed by The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB).

Netnod’s view is that the risk assessment given in the proposal is too shallow and only focuses on one specific form of Denial of Service (DoS) attack. We also believe that the impact analysis related to the market for electronic communication services does not consider an important aspect. If organisations requesting high-quality services follow the proposal to use the SGSI service, they will no longer use the market, the demand for high-quality services will decrease and this may affect the possibility for the market to build such services in the future.
